Dr BR Ambedkar, also known as the father of the Indian constitution, is a key figure in the history of India. Despite facing numerous challenges due to discrimination, he never gave up and fought tirelessly to abolish untouchability and promote rights and education for women. 

Started as a movement to bring equal rights, better working conditions, and fair wages for women labourers in New York City in 1909, International Women's Day has become more than that. It is a celebration of women's achievements and fighting against discrimination and oppression, spreading awareness for women's rights and gender equality. 

Zero Discrimination Day was first launched by UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe on 27 February 2014. The theme for Zero Discrimination Day 2024 is ‘To protect everyone’s health, protect everyone’s rights.’

Rituparna Neog is a trans woman, storyteller, educator, and gender rights activist dedicated to promoting education and eradicating gender discrimination. She has established two free libraries in her village and has conducted sessions on gender equality in over 40 universities.

Riddhi suffered from extreme mental trauma when her father sexually abused her when she was in grade 7.  She persevered through all the hardships at that tender age, and today she is a successful assistant professor.

The Lautenberg Amendment (United States) allows positive discrimination by excluding majority Muslims from the former Soviet Union and Iran. It allows Jews, Christians and Baha’is to jump the queue to gain American Citizenship.

The Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu called upon the youth to take a vow to put an end to social evils such as discrimination based on gender, caste, and disrespect to women by leading the nation towards equality. Expressing concern over the erosion of values in the society, especially in the context of the recent atrocities against women, the Vice President opined that mere a Bill or an Act was not sufficient to act as a deterrent to crimes against women. Babasaheb Ambedkar was an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who campaigned against social discrimination towards the untouchables (Dalits) and supported the rights of women and workers. He died on December 6, 1956.

The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu on 28th November called for ending the gender discrimination and ensuring safety security, and dignity of the women. Speaking at the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Indian Women Press Corps, he said that it was the collective responsibility of the governments, media and civil society to ensure that women were made equal partners in the developmental process of the nation.
