These days, fruits and vegetables are often coated in several chemicals and pesticides, which can be extremely harmful to human bodies. Pesticides such as fludioxonil, boscalid, and pyrimethanil are linked to several fatal diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes.

It is essential to remove these chemicals before cooking, as they can cause severe complications, especially for children and elders. Giving a quick pass under the running tap might just not be enough to get rid of them. Here are some natural methods you can try at home to remove dangerous chemicals and pesticides from your fruits and vegetables.

1. Wash with lemon juice and water

The citric acid in lemon juice helps in breaking down pesticides and helps in the removal of lethal chemicals. Soak the fruits and vegetables in lemon juice diluted water for 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly before cooking.

2. Vinegar soak

It is another natural way to get rid of nasty pesticides from your food. Take 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water, soak the veggies and fruits for 15-20 minutes and wash later with clear water.

3. Baking soda wash

Baking soda can also be used to eliminate harmful pesticides. Take 1 tablespoon of baking soda per 2 cups of water and create a solution. Soak the produce in for 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly afterwards.

4. Saltwater soak

Create a saltwater solution by mixing 1 teaspoon of salt per 2 cups of water. Soak the fruits and vegetables for 15 minutes and wash them with clean water afterwards.
