Malnutrition  

Amit Verma embarked on a mission to address the issue of child malnutrition in the country. He introduced a nutritional kit called ‘Samvardhan kit’ which has helped over one lakh children in UP.

IAS Mahendra Bahadur Singh was surprised to look at the statistics of malnourished children. In order to find a solution, he made a public appeal and came up with the concept of Poshan Potli. Today, almost 85 percent of children have come out of the malnourished category.

The number of undernourished declined from 253.9 million in 2004-06 to 194.4 million in 2016-18. But the number of obese adults grew from 24.1 million in 2012 to 32.8 million in 2016

To deal with malnutrition mainly in tribal-dominated Chhattisgarh and other districts, the students of IGKV along with scientists of BARC, Mumbai are engaged in extensive research work and have developed ready to eat and cook products, said the principal scientist of IGKV, Dr Deepak Sharma
