Dehradun: Four class 12 students and five school officials, including the director and principal of a boarding school on the outskirts of Dehradun, have been arrested in connection with a gang rape case of a class 10 girl.

According to reports, the 16-year-old girl was raped by the seniors at the school. Moreover, the institute’s staff tried to conceal the matter and terminate her pregnancy.

The victim said that on August 14 she was called to a store room on the pretext of preparing for a programme and was raped. After the school authority found out that she was pregnant, they started giving her drinks mixed with drugs and was even taken to a nursing home for abortion.

At last, the victim confided to her sister, who was also a student of the same school.

After the girl’s parents came to know about the incident, they approached the police and child welfare officials.

"The school management tried to suppress the case. The girl says she reported the case to the ayah the same day. But they tried to dissuade her to report. After a month, the crime has come to the knowledge of police," Additional Director General of Police Ashok Kumar told NDTV.

However, the school’s director claimed that she did not know anything about the incident.

An FIR has been registered after Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (USCPCR) led by chairperson Usha Negi met the girl.

Currently, the school staff is being interrogated by the police.
