New Delhi: Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee's foster daughter Namita has written a letter to the PMO expressing her wish to vacate the Lutyen's zone bungalow and move to her private accommodation.

Namita, her husband Ranjan Bhattacharya and their daughter Niharika lived in the 7 Krishna Menon Marg bungalow that was allotted to Vajpayee (and his immediate family) as every former Prime Minister is entitled to an accommodation in Lutyen's Delhi.

Namita has written to the PMO that she doesn't want taxpayer’s money to be spent on her SPG protection and that the security cover be withdrawn since her family does not face a threat from any quarter.

The Special Protection Group is "an armed force of the Union for providing proximate security to the Prime Minister of India and former Prime Ministers of India and members of their immediate families wherever they are." It was formed in 1988 by an act of the Parliament of India.

Former PMs, their immediate family members, and family members of a serving Prime Minister may, if they choose, may decline SPG security.
