Jaipur ranks 5th in Travel + Leisure’s 2025 “World’s Best Cities” list, earning global praise for its royal charm, culture, luxury, and hospitality—boosting tourism and solidifying its place as a top international destination.
Jaipur- In a major global recognition of India’s cultural heritage and tourism appeal, Jaipur has secured the 5th spot in Travel + Leisure magazine’s 2025 “World’s Best Cities” list. The prestigious annual ranking is based on reader surveys that rate cities on factors such as sights, culture, food, friendliness, shopping, and overall value.
Often called the Pink City for its signature terracotta-hued architecture, Jaipur is the only Indian city to feature in the top 10 this year, sharing the spotlight with global hotspots like Kyoto, Florence, and Istanbul.
According to Travel + Leisure, Jaipur impressed global travelers with its regal charm, grand forts, colorful bazaars, luxury hotels, and warm hospitality. “The city offers a seamless blend of history and modern luxury. From the iconic Hawa Mahal and Amer Fort to boutique palace stays and vibrant street markets, Jaipur leaves a lasting impression,” the magazine said in its report.
A Consistent Favourite
This isn’t the first time Jaipur has made it to global travel rankings. Over the past decade, the Rajasthani capital has steadily climbed international travel charts thanks to aggressive tourism promotion, infrastructure upgrades, and a renewed focus on heritage conservation.
Tourism officials in Rajasthan welcomed the news with enthusiasm. “This recognition reflects Jaipur’s timeless appeal and our efforts in positioning the city as a world-class travel destination,” said Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary, Rajasthan Tourism Department.
Boost for Tourism and Local Economy
The global ranking is expected to give a significant boost to tourism in Jaipur, which is already a key destination in India’s Golden Triangle tourist circuit alongside Delhi and Agra. Local businesses, artisans, and hoteliers are likely to benefit from the increased visibility.
According to data from the Ministry of Tourism, Jaipur attracted over 2.2 million international visitors in 2024, a number projected to grow by 15% in 2025, especially after this recognition.
What Makes Jaipur Stand Out?
Travel experts attribute Jaipur’s rising popularity to a variety of experiences it offers — heritage walks, royal architecture, desert safaris, curated food trails, and festivals like the Jaipur Literature Festival. The city also boasts a growing reputation for luxury travel, with palatial hotels like Rambagh Palace and Rajmahal Palace topping global luxury lists.
“Jaipur is where you feel like you’re walking through a living museum. Every corner has a story, and the city knows how to welcome the world,” said travel blogger and frequent visitor, Lena Morales from Spain.
