From an orphanage to becoming an IAS officer, Abdul Nasar's journey is a testament to hard work and resilience. Learn how he overcame adversity to achieve his dreams.

An Inspiring IAS Success Story
Many dream of becoming an IAS or IPS officer, but only few succeed. It requires intense hard work and top ranks in a challenging exam. But this young man achieved it differently.
How did Abdul Nasar, born into poverty, become an IAS officer without the UPSC? What were his struggles? Let's explore his inspiring journey and success story.
Abdul Nasar's Personal Life
Born into poverty, Abdul Nasar's life was filled with hardship from a young age. He lost his father at five, leaving his mother to work as a housemaid. Unable to provide for her children, she placed them in an orphanage, where Nasar spent 13 years.
Nasar's Journey as a Cleaner and Paperboy
Instead of playing, young Nasar shouldered family responsibilities, working as a cleaner and delivery boy while studying. He became a paperboy, tutored students, and worked as a phone operator to fund his education and family expenses.
From Hardship to Success
While becoming an IAS officer typically requires clearing the UPSC exam, Abdul Nasar's story is different. He joined government service through the State Public Service Commission (PSC) and rose to become an IAS officer through merit, without the UPSC exam or interview.
His career began as a Health Inspector, but he aimed higher. Lacking UPSC preparation opportunities, he chose the state PSC route, becoming a Deputy Collector in 2006.
Achieving IAS
Through hard work and dedication, Nasar earned promotions, eventually getting promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) based on his exceptional performance. He served as Kollam District Collector from 2019 to 2021 and is currently Secretary in Kerala's Fisheries Department.
His journey from orphanage to Collector inspires many, showing how a young man with limited opportunities achieved great success. His story is a testament to overcoming obstacles and achieving goals, a true inspiration for today's youth.
