Shahjanpur: The woman who had accused BJP leader Chinmayanand of sexual harassment has been found in Rajasthan. A team of Uttar Pradesh police traced her and picked her up this morning when she was with a friend.

Confirming that she was located in Rajasthan on Friday, the Uttar Pradesh Police tweeted, "In Shahjahanpur episode the girl has been located by Shahjahanpur police in Rajasthan along with her friend. Necessary legal action is being taken."

The woman hit national headlines when she went missing just a day after accusing the BJP leader of sexual harassment.

The woman is a student at a college run by Chinmayanand's trust in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur. She went missing on August 24, a day after she posted the video on social media.

In the video, the woman accused Chinmayanand of having "ruined lives of many girls" including her’s. She further claimed to possess "all evidence" against Chinmayanand, who she described as “very powerful and the DM [district magistrate] and SP [superintendant of police] can't act against him."

She did not name Chinmayanand in the video but referred to "a senior leader of the sant community".

However, Chinmayanand’s lawyer rejected all the allegations and said that they were all a part of a conspiracy to blackmail the BJP leader.

The lawyer said that he believed the girl's video and the blackmail attempt were probably linked.

The 72-year-old Chinmayanand is a three-time Lok Sabha member and was a minister of state in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

Chinmayanand faced similar accusations of sexual harassment in 2011 and was booked for raping a woman who stayed at his ashram.
