Lucknow: The political battle for the 2022 Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh has started and every political party in the state does not want to miss out on any opportunity to win.

Virtually, all political parties of the state are making an effort to attract the 11% of the Brahmin vote bank, after notorious gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in a police encounter last month.

Especially the opposition party in UP, the Samajwadi Party (SP) had run a huge campaign on social media against the Yogi Adityanath government in the state to get sympathy from the Brahmins.

The SP is planning to set up an idol of Bhagwan Parashuram in every district of the state. There were rumours after Dubey’s encounter that the Brahmins in the state were upset with Adityanath’s BJP government and news was being shared on social media through different groups with the Assembly election to be held in less than two years.

The SP is now playing the Brahmin card to dent the BJP's core voters. After Dubey's encounter, caste politics had started in the state with the SP wanting to woo Brahmin voters in the 2022 Assembly poll.

The SP has selected some leaders from the community to send a message to the Brahmins. Usually, Brahmins are known as the BJP's hardcore voters in the state.

Now, the SP has decided to install Parashuram idols in every district of the state. The party has started collecting money from the workers to purchase the idols from Jaipur. According to party sources, an idol of 108-foot high will be installed in the state capital Lucknow.
