Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ahmedabad on Thursday to participate in the golden jubilee festivities of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation held at Narendra Modi Stadium. The federation sells milk and various products under its renowned Amul brand. 

Amul

Amul is a popular milk brand in India which continues to attract attention for its unique advertisements. On Thursday at the festivities, PM Modi visited a unique exhibition arranged by Amul during his visit. Over 1.25 lakh farmers from Gujarat are affiliated with the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, that live in approximately 18,600 villages. 

Inaugurating various projects

Prime Minister Modi inaugurated five new dairy projects during his visit, including Sabar Dairy made with an expenditure of Rs 600 crore. Amul Dairy’s Tetra Pak milk plant and chocolate plant in Anand were also expanded. Furthermore, PM Modi inaugurated a 50,000-litre ice cream plant at Sarhad Dairy in Kutch, Gujarat.

With over 18 thousand milk cooperative societies, a network of 36 lakh farmers, the daily collection of more than 3.5 crore litres of milk, and online payment exceeding Rs 200 crore to dairy farmers, Amul’s achievements are unparalleled.
