Bengaluru: As per the Hurun Global Rich List 2021, Mukesh Ambani, who happens to be the richest man in India, is the eight richest man in the world.  

Mukesh Ambani's total wealth surged by 24% over the past one year to $83 billion or close to Rs 6.09 lakh crore as per the list, as per the list. 

Times now adds other Indians on the list.  Gautam Adani, with rank 48 and Rs 2.34 lakh crore wealth, Shiv Nadar & family, with rank 58 and Rs 1.94 lakh crore wealth, Lakshmi N Mittal, with rank 104 and Rs 1.40 lakh crore wealth, Cyrus Poonawalla of Serum Institute, with rank 113 and Rs 1.35 lakh crore feature on it. 

The top spot is occupied by Elon Musk of Tesla. As per reports, his wealth surged by 328% to $197 billion. He added $151 billion to his wealth in a single year. In the Hurun list, three individuals added more than US$50bn in a single year, led by Elon Musk with $151bn, on the back of the rise of e-cars, whilst e-commerce billionaires Jeff Bezos of Amazon and Colin Huang of Pinduoduo added $50bn each. 

In the list, 161 individuals added $5 billion or more to their wealth over the past year, led by 84 from China, 38 from USA and 5 from India, adds the website. 

India now has 209 billionaires, of which 177 live in India, compared with 689 in the US. India last year added billionaires at a similar rate to the US -- 50 compared with 69, it notes further.
