Bengaluru: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is more doing more harm than good to the state as she has extended the window for selling sweets. From the earlier 12 noon to 4 pm, she has extended it from 8 am to 4 pm.

Though the sweet makers and sellers are happy as their business would increase, Republic TV adds that ground realities are different.

It quoted a sweet seller as saying, “"Sale is doing fine but I don't that the decision to increase the time is a correct one. Earlier it was for four hours and now its from 8 am to 4 pm. It is risky. We have to stay here for more time and meet more people."

It is to be mentioned here that Rashbehari, the sweet joint in which the salesman works has marks to maintain bare minimum distance between two people. Another salesman added, "We are wearing gloves and giving parcels, we do not know who is coming from where. We are coming in contact with customers."

This is the state of affairs. However, the website added that a few customers were happy that the extension was good because it minimises crowding up.

A note on social distancing:

The Prime Minister has been urging people to maintain social distancing in order to minimise the spread of the coronavirus.

He has also urged people to stay at homes so that they don’t come out and infect others (if they are suffering) and by staying indoors, they protect themselves from the virus.
India has, to a great extent, succeeded in containing the virus spread. The present lockdown will be in vogue till May 3. However, PM Modi might ease a few things on April 20 to improve a sagging economy.
