Bengaluru: As the world is on the cusp of welcoming the new year 2020, let’s take a look at some of the phenomenal achievements made by Narendra Modi government in India.

1.    The Balakot airstrikes

The surgical strikes in the year 2016 should have taught a nefarious Pakistan a befitting lesson for its involvement and promotion of terror. But it didn’t.

As it continued to push terror on Indian soil, it failed to realise that it was BJP under Modi in power and not a debilitated Congress headed by Manmohan Singh.

The Pulwama attacks were the final nail in the coffin. Everyone knew that India would strike back with equal force.

As India avenged the martyrdom of its soldiers in Balakot, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphatically said, “Ghar me ghuske maarengey”.

2.    A law for the persecuted Muslim women

Triple talaq, easily one of the most gruesome and inhumane acts in Islam, had to be done away with. But the so-called secular parties were not the ones to take call on it, for if they did, they feared demolition of their vote banks.

Ultimately, it came to the decisive and courageous Modi government to abolish the practice with the aid of an act, against it. Though there was a lot of hue and cry over the act, the NDA managed to get it passed even in Rajya Sabha, therefore, giving a fresh leash of life for Indian Muslims.

3.    Abrogation of articles 35A and 370

Special status to the erstwhile states of Jammu and Kashmir was an act furtively done by former PM Jawaharlal Nehru. For the last several decades, J&K had been placed on a pedestal. Just like in the triple talaq case, the Modi government had to step in and take the brave decision of annulling it.

4.    The Citizenship Amendment Act

The persecuted minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan looked upon Modi for their rescue. Their pains ands privations were hard to ignore. That is precisely the reason why the Modi government took this decision of introducing a bill to bail out Hindus from the three Islamic countries.

Even to this day, the protests continue, but the Modi government has stood like a rock, weathering the storm.
