Though it has been four years since his death, APJ Abdul Kalam is fondly remembered by everyone.  He was not only a brilliant scientist but also India’s beloved President. He continues to be an inspiration even after death not only due to his immense contribution in the field of aeronautics, which gave him the title, ‘the Missile Man of India’, but also because he was India’s first people’s President.

As a scientist, his contributions are exemplary starting from helping develop India’s first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV) at a time when the country had hardly dreamt of its own SLV. He was the project director at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) at the time.

Kalam was also the brain behind multiple nuclear tests carried out in Pokhran in 1998 which showcased India’s power.

Remembering Kalam on his death anniversary, people took to Twitter to post his pictures and share messages.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter and said, “Solemnly and very fondly remembering former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his death anniversary. ভারতের প্রাক্তন রাষ্ট্রপতি ডঃ এ পি জে আব্দুল কালামের মৃত্যুবার্ষিকীতে বিনম্র শ্রদ্ধাঞ্জলি (sic).”

The Twitter page of Indian National Congress posted an image of Kalam along with a warm post stating, “Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, known as the Missile Man of India, played pivotal roles in INCOSPAR, ISRO, DRDO & the missile program from 1960 to 1999. He served as the 11th President & was awarded the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan. We remember him on his death anniversary (sic).”

Meanwhile, the BJP tweeted saying, "Our humble tribute to the 'Missile Man', former President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam whose life continues to inspire millions of youth."

Several people shared Kalam’s quotes on their Twitter pages along with his picture and some even wrote heartfelt messages. A Twitterati wrote, “My tribute to our Bharat Ratna who taught us how to fly without wings.#APJAbdulKalam You are alive in all of us❤ The way u touch life is more than inspiring😊 आपको शत्-शत् नमन हमारा🙏.”
