Chaitra Navratri is being celebrated in the country with great zeal. Moreover, the weekend is also almost here and there wouldn’t be a better way to celebrate this holy period than preparing some sweet delicacies at home. This weekend, prepare Malpuas at home for your loved ones. It is easy to make and does not require a lot of ingredients for the preparation process.

Here is a simple recipe for Malpua so you can easily prepare this dish at home.

Ingredients you are going to need:

•    ¾ cup of wheat flour
•    ¼ cup of sooji (semolina)
•    ½ tsp saunf powder (fennel seeds powder)
•    1 tsp of sugar
•    ½ tsp of cardamom powder
•    2 tsp of cream
•    1 cup of hot milk
•    1 cup of sugar
•    1 cup of water
•    8-10 strands of saffron
•    2-3 drops of rose water

Follow these instructions:

Step 1- In a bowl, mix wheat flour, sooji, sugar, cardamom and fennel powder. Add milk and keep stirring to prevent any lumps from forming. Then, add cream and mix the mixture until it becomes smooth. Let it rest for 15 minutes.

Step 2- While the batter is resting, take a pan and add water and sugar to it. Heat it on the stove and proceed to add saffron and mix until the sugar dissolves. Once the sugar syrup begins to thicken, add 2-3 drops of rose water and continue boiling for 3-4 minutes.

Step 3- Take a shallow pan and heat oil in it. Make sure that the oil is not too hot, and the pan is not too deep. Pour the batter into the pan forming small round shapes using a spatula. Cook on medium flame until the Malpuas take on a golden-brown colour.

Step 4- Repeat the process to make more Malpuas from the batter. Once cooked, dip each Malpua into the sugar syrup and allow them to absorb the sweetness. You can serve them after 10-15 minutes.
