Yogeshwar Dutt started receiving his training in wrestling at the age of 6 under the guidance of his coach Ramphal.

In the year 1998, he made his wrestling debut with Indian National Championship games.

In 2003, he won his wrestling career’s first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games. 

Yogeshwar Dutt’s Olympic medal

Yogeshwar Dutt is the third Indian wrestler to win an Olympic medal after Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav and Sushil Kumar. In 2012, he clinched a bronze medal in Olympic Games held in London. 

During the 2006 Asian Games, he faced an incredible emotional loss when his father passed away. Despite the challenges, Yogeshwar Dutt represented India and won a bronze medal at the Asian Games in Doha.

Gold at the Commonwealth Games

In the year 2010, he clinched a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. 

In 2012, he competed in the Gumi Asian Championships and a won a gold medal in the 60 kg category. 

In 2014, he won a gold at the Asian Games held in Incheon. 

Padma Shri Award

The Government of India honoured him with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in the year 2012. The following year, he was awarded the Padma Shri Award.
