Usha Mangeshkar is an Indian playback singer. She was born on 14 December 1935 in Bombay, British India. Her zodiac sign is Sagittarius. Her father Deenanath Mangeshkar was an actor, and her mother, Shevanti Mangeshkar was a homemaker. 

She is the younger sister of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.

In the year 1992, she produced as musical drama ‘Phoolwanti’ for the Doordarshan channel, which was based on a story by Baba Sahib Purandare. 

In 2017, after a gap of 27 years in her music career, she returned with her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar with the song ‘Ek Baar Bidai De Do Maan’ for the Bengali biopic film ‘Main Khudiram Bose Hoon.’

Awards and Honours

The Education Minister of Maharashtra honoured Usha Mangeshkar with a doctorate degree in Philosophy in the year 2019. 

The Chief Minister of Assam awarded Usha Mangeshkar at the 7th Youth Festival. It was a five-day festival held in March 2020 in Jengrimukh, Assam. 

In the year 1975, she won the BFJA Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her song in the film ‘Jai Santoshi Maa.’ She was also nominated for the Filmfare Award for the same song. 

In 2020, Usha Mangeshkar was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Mirch Awards. 

The same year, she received the Gana Samriddhi Lata Mangeshkar Award by the Cultural Department for Maharashtra Government.
