Sunidhi Chauhan is an Indian playback singer and an actor. She was born on 14 August 1983 in Delhi. Her zodiac sign is Leo. She completed her schooling from Greenway Modern School, New Delhi. 

Her father’s name is Dushyant Kumar Chauhan; he was a theatre artist in Sriram Bhartiya Kala Kendra. Her mother is a homemaker. She has a younger sister Suneha Chauhan. 

Sunidhi was married to Bobby Khan from 2002-2003. She remarried with Hitesh Sonik on 24 April 2012. The couple has a son, Tegh Sonik.

Sunidhi is known for singing songs in languages like Marathi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati.

She started performing in local festivals and competitions at the age of 4 because she had a keen interest in music since childhood.

Her father left his job and moved to Mumbai for her singing career.

His father used to play the role of ‘Ram’ in the annual Ramlila of Shri Ram Bharatiya Kala Kendra in New Delhi.

Film actress, Tabassum saw Sunidhi singing at a show in Delhi. After which she offered her a chance to sing live in her show ‘Tabassum Hit Parade’.

At the age of 8, Sunidhi appeared as the lead singer in music director Kalyanji's ‘Little Wonders troupe’.

Sunidhi did not take any professional training in music. She learned to sing by listening to cassettes of popular singers.

Sunidhi’s first Bollywood song

In 1996, she got an opportunity to sing the song ‘Ladki Deewani Ladka Deewana’. This was her first Bollywood song for the film ‘Shastra’.

In the year 1990, she launched her album with HMV's ‘Aira Gaara Natthu Khaira’, which included 5 tracks like 'Swapn Pari', 'Govinda Kal Mere Ghar Aaya', 'Jiyo Magar Haske', 'Badra' and 'Churiyan'.

After this she worked as a background vocalist for 2 years.

She rose to fame in 1999 when she recorded the song ‘Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi’ for the film ‘Mast’. After this, Sonu Nigam recommended her name to music director Sandeep Chautala for other songs. 

In the year 2002, Sunidhi Chauhan married director and choreographer, Bobby Khan at the age of 18. They first met while working for the album ‘Pehla Nasha’. However, their marriage did not last long, and they both got divorced after a year.

In 2005, Sunidhi along with sixteen other artists recorded a song called 'Zindagi Pukarti Hai' to raise funds for the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami.

She sang a song ‘Heartbeat’ with Enrique Iglesias. This song was included in a special Indian edition of Enrique Iglesias's album ‘Euphoria’.

In 2006, she sang the English song ‘Reach Out’ at the opening ceremony of the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar.
