Shivraj Singh Chouhan is an Indian politician. He was born on 5 March 1959 in Budhani, Madhya Pradesh. He earned an MA degree in Philosophy from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. 

His father’s name is Prem Singh Chouhan, and his mother’s name is Sundar Bai Chouhan. He has two brothers, Narendra Singh Chouhan and Surjit Singh Chouhan. 

He is married to Sadhna Singh. They are parents to two sons, Kartikey Chouhan and Kunal Chouhan.

Interesting facts about Shivraj

Shivraj Singh Chouhan started his political career in the year 1972 when he joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He was a young school student back then. 

During the period of 1976 to 1977, he had to go to jail for his participation in the underground movement against the Emergency.

In the year 1978, he became the organizing secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). The same year, he became the joint secretary. In 1982, he was promoted to the role of General Secretary. 

In 1988, Shivraj Singh Chouhan became the President of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJUM).

In 1990, he was elected in the State Assembly from Budhani constituency. 

In the year 1991, he was elected MP from Vidisha assembly constituency in the 10th Lok Sabha elections.

From 1993 to 1996, Shivraj Singh Chouhan was a member of the Labour and Welfare Committee.

He was a member of the Agriculture Committee from 1999 to 2000. Till 2001, he also served as a member of the Public Enterprises Committee.

In November 2005, he was elected the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. 

Shivraj Singh was awarded the Krishi Karman Award in 2011 for the highest production of wheat in his state. 

In 2013, he won from the Budhani Assembly seat and was elected as the Chief Minister of MP for the third consecutive time. 

In 2023 Assembly elections, Shivraj Singh Chouhan won the maximum number of seats and became MP’s Chief Minister for the 4th time.
