Sameer Wankhede is an Indian officer in the Indian Revenue Service. He was born on 14 December 1979 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. His father, Gyandev Wankhede is a retired police officer, and his mother, Zaheda Wankhede, is a homemaker. His sister, Yasmin Wankhede is a lawyer.

Sameer Wankhede is the former zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau of India (NCB). He is known for being at the forefront of all NCB operations and seizing drugs and other contraband in areas around Mumbai.

He cleared the UPSC exam in the year 2008 and was appointed as an Indian Revenue Service officer.

In 2010, he began working in the Maharashtra Service Tax Department. He also served as Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) Deputy Commissioner at Mumbai Airport.

After serving in the Air Intelligence Unit, Sameer became Additional SP of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and was then posted in the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

In 2019, he joined NCB as the zonal director.

Sammer Wankhede and his team has raided properties of celebrities like Anurag Kashyap, Vivek Oberoi, and Ram Gopal Verma. 

He investigated the alleged drug angle in the suicide case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. 

On November 22, 2020, five members of Wankhede's team were attacked by a mob of 60 alleged drug peddlers. His two team members were also seriously injured, while he sustained minor injuries.

Sameer Wankhede handled the case when in October 2021, Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB in Mumbai. 

Sameer Wankhede’s awards

In the year 2012, he was honoured with the Maharashtra Samman Award. 

He received the Directorate General Disc Award in August 2019. 

He won the Jamadar Bapu Laxman Lamkhade Award for his Most Outstanding Contribution to Public Service.
