Rabri Devi is an Indian politician. She was born on 1 January 1955 in Gopalganj, Bihar. Her zodiac sign is Capricorn. She did her schooling till class 5 from a government school in her village. 

Her father’s name was Sib Prasad Chaudhary, and her mother’s name was Jagmato Devi. Rabri Devi has six siblings.

She is married to Lalu Prasad Yadav. They are parents to Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, Misa Bharti, Rohini Acharya, Chanda, Ragini, Dhannu, Hema, and Lakshmi.

Rabri Devi is an Indian politician. She is the former Chief Minister of Bihar, and the wife of Lalu Prasad Yadav. She served as the CM for three consecutive terms from 1997 to 2005. 

She was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar on 25 July 1997. She was re-elected as the CM in the years 1999 and 2000. Rabri Devi holds the distinction of being the first female Chief Minister of Bihar. 

Rabri Devi’s political journey

On 20 November 2005, she became the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly and remained in this position till 23 December 2010.

In the 2010 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, Rabri Devi lost both the seats of Raghopur and Sonpur.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, she contested from Saran constituency, and lost to BJP's Rajiv Pratap.

Rabri Devi was elected as the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council on 12 May 2018, and she served her term till 23 June 2020.

In her early years as Chief Minister, Rabri Devi faced criticism for lacking political acumen and being under the shadow of Lalu Prasad Yadav. 

Presently, Rabri Devi is a Member of Bihar Legislative Council. She formerly served as the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Vidhan Parishad.
