Prakash Javadekar is an Indian politician. He was born on 30 January 1951 in Pune, Maharashtra. His sun sign is Aquarius. He did his schooling from District School, Mahad, Maharashtra. He pursued a degree in economics from Maharashtra Education Garvare College of Commerce, Pune.

Prakash Javadekar was born in Pune to Keshav Krishna Javadekar and Rajni Javadekar. His father was a journalist in the Marathi newspaper 'Kesari' founded by Lokmanya Tilak and his mother was a primary school teacher.

During his school days, Prakash Javadekar was associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

In 1969, while pursuing higher education from MES College of Commerce, Pune, he joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

Before officially joining politics, Prakash Javadekar worked at the Bank of Maharashtra.

Prakash Javadekar’s important roles

On 27 May 2014, he assumed the role of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Information and Broadcasting, Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

On 5 July 2016, he was appointed as the Minister of Human Resource Development.

Prakash Javadekar served as the Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change from 30 May 2019 to 7 July 2021. 

He has published many books in Marathi including Bikaricha Jwalamukhi (Problem of Unemployment, 1986), Naninidich Karz (IMF Loan, 1987), Shetkanani Karzmakti (Farm Loan Waiver, 1988), Mahagika Bhassamor (Problem of Inflation, 1999).
