Mahira Hafiz Khan is known as Majdoor Khan among her friends. She was born on 21 December 1984 in Karachi, Pakistan. She is a Muslim, and her sun sign is Sagittarius. She completed her schooling from Foundation Public School and at the age of 17, she moved to California for her further education. 

Mahira’s hobbies include listening to music and studying. Her favourite Indian actors are Hrithik Roshan, Madhuri Dixit, Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Apart from them, she loves the movies of Nauman Aijaz, Sameena Peerzada, Bushra Ansari, Johnny Depp and Daniel D Louise.

Her favourite Bollywood movie is Pyasa (1957), and she loves Hollywood’s ‘Silver Linings Playbook (2012). Her favourite destination is Netherlands. 

She enrolled in Santa Monica College and later took admission in Southern California University for her bachelor’s degree. Her favourite subject was Chemistry. While she was pursuing her education, she worked as a cashier at a store in Los Angeles to support herself financially. She dropped out of the university and moved back to Pakistan. 

Mahira's first television show

In the year 2006, she hosted a live television programme called ‘Most Wanted’. After receiving appreciation for this show, she received many offers. In 2008, she got the opportunity to host an AAG’s reality show called ‘Weekends with Mahira’. She talked with various celebrities on the show and interacted with the common public. She has also worked as a VJ. 

Marriage

Her father was against her marriage when in 2006, she married Ali Askari with all traditional customs of an Islamic wedding. She had met Ali in Los Angeles while she was studying for her bachelor’s degree. The marriage did not last, and she took divorce from her husband in 2015. She has a son Azlan Khan.

Mahira found her interest in films when she watched Madhuri Dixit’s performance in ‘Ram Lakhan’. She reveres Madhuri Dixit and considers her as her role model. Mahira’s show ‘Humsafar’ gained worldwide recognition and was especially a hit in the Indian audience. 

She is also popular for participating in various women empowerment programmes. She advocates for creating a safe world for women. 

Mahira's debut film

Mahira debuted with Shoaib Mansoor’s film ‘Bol’. She played a supporting role of ‘Aaysha’ in the movie. The film was a success in Pakistan and is still counted as one of highest grossing movies of all time in Pakistan. The same year she was seen Mehreen Jabbar’s show called ‘Neeyat’ in which she played the role of ‘Ayla’.

Winning the title of the'Most Beautiful Woman'

In the year 2012, she was listed as the most beautiful woman of Pakistan. In 2013, she worked in Sarmad Khasoot’s ‘Sheher-e-Zaat’. Later, she played the role of Shano in Mohammad Ehteshamuddin’s ‘Sada ke tumhare’ in 2014.

Mahira likes to read books and also writes about her experiences. Her writings have been published in a few magazines and articles. 

In the year 2015, Eastern Eye listed her as the 10th ‘Sexiest Asian Woman’. The same year, she was awarded with ‘Lux Style Award’, ‘Hum Award’ and ‘Masala Award’ for her exceptional performance as an actress. 

Mahira's filmography

In the year 2016, she played the role of protagonist in the movie ‘Ho Mann Jahan’ which was directed Aseem Raza. 

Mahira pursued her interests in singing seriously after becoming a successful actress. She sang a song in Shoaib Mansoor’s drama ‘Varna’ in which she also played the role of a rape victim. 

Her successful films include Bol (2011), Roye (2015), Ho Mann Jahan (2015), 7 Din Mohabbat In (2018), Superstar (2019).

In 2019, along with the release of ‘Superstar’, she was seen in an action-comedy film ‘Kayad-e-Azam Zindabad’; it was directed by Nabeel Qureshi. 

In 2022, she debuted as a producer through a sports web series called ‘Barwan Khiladi’.

Mahira Khan is considered as one of the highest-paid actresses of Pakistan. She was also announced as the brand ambassador of British Asian Trust.
