Lara Dutta is an Indian model, actress, producer, and entrepreneur. She was born on 16 April 1978 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Her zodiac sign is Aries. Lara grew up in Bengaluru, Karnataka. She attended St Fracis Xavier Girls High School and Frank Anthony Public School, Bengaluru. She earned a degree in economics from Mumbai University.

Interesting facts about Lara

On 12 May 2000, she became the second Indian woman to win the Miss Universe title. Sushmita Sen was the first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe title.

Later that year, she was removed from a B-grade film as the director did not like her acting skills. 

In 2001, at the age of 23, she became the youngest ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

In 2003, Lara Dutta made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Andaz’.

During the shooting of the film, an accident happened, and Akshay Kumar saved her from drowning. 

International film offers

Lara Dutta received offers to work in films ‘The Matrix Reloaded' (2003) and 'The Matrix Revolutions' (2003), but she refused to work because the scripts were not to her liking. 

In 2005, she was offered a role in Jackie Chan's Hollywood film 'The Myth', but she declined the offer because of a nude scene.  

She is fond of Banarasi sarees and has designed her own saree collection for 'Chhabra 555'.
