Lalu Prasad Yadav is an Indian politician. He was born on 11 June 1948 in Gopalganj, Bihar. His sun sign is Gemini. He earned a degree from BN College, Patna University, Bihar. 

His father’s name was Kandan Rai, and his mother’s name was Marachiya Devi. 

He is married to Rabri Devi. They are parents to Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, Misa Bharti, Rohini Acharya, Chanda, Ragini, Dhannu, Hema, and Lakshmi.

After completing his graduation, Lalu Prasad Yadav worked as a clerk at Bihar Veterinary College, Patna. 

He was a member of political party Janata Dal. In the year 1977, he formed a new party called Rashtriya Janata Dal after resigning from Janata Dal. He was 29 at the time, and the same year, he was elected to the 6th Lok Sabha. 

From 1980 to 1989, Lalu Prasad served as a member of Bihar Legislative Assembly.

In the year 1989, he was elected as the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly and Convenor of Public Undertakings Committee. He was also appointed as the Chairman of Library Committee.

Lalu Prasad as the Chief Minister

Lalu Prasad Yadav was elected as the Chief Minister of Bihar in the year 1990. He served as the CM from 1990 to 1997. 

In 1998, he was re-elected to the 12th Lok Sabha. 

From 1998 to 1999, he served as the member of the Committee on Home Affairs, and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

In the year 2004, Lalu Prasad was elected to the 14th Lok Sabha and was appointed as the Union Railway Minister of India. 

He played a guest role in a film called ‘Padmashri Laloo Prasad Yadav’ in 2004.
