Kamal Nath is an Indian politician and businessman. He was born on 18 November 1946 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. His sun sign is Scorpio. He earned a graduate degree from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata. 

His father’s name was Mahendra Nath, and his mother’s name was Leela Nath. 

He is married to Alka Nath. They are parents to two sons, Nakul Nath and Bakul Nath.

Kamal Nath, member of the INC, is the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. 

He was the classmate of Sanjay Gandhi at Doon International School, Dehradun. 

In the year 1980, he was elected as a Lok Sabha member. 

In 1989, he was elected to the Lok Sabha for the third consecutive time.

He was appointed to the Union Council of Ministers as the Minister of Environment and Forests in the year 1991.

From 1995 to 1996 he served as the Union Minister of State Textiles. 

He served as the Secretary of the Indian National Congress from 2001 to 2004.

In the year 2009, Kamal Nath was appointed as the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways. 

In 2011, he replaced Jaipal Reddy as the Urban Development Minister.

In the year 2012, Kamal Nath became the ex-officio member of the Planning Commission in place of Jairam Ramesh.

In 2014, he was appointed as the Pro-tem Speaker of the newly elected 16th Lok Sabha.

In the year 2018, Kamal Nath was appointed as the PCC President of Madhya Pradesh and on 17 December 2019, he was sworn in as the 18th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

On 20 March 2020, he resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Kamal Nath received the title of FDI Personality of the Year by FDI magazine and Financial Times Business in the year 2007.

In 2008, the Economic Times awarded him with the title of Business Reformer of the Year.

In the year 2012, he was honoured with the ABLF Statesman Award from the Asian Business Leadership Forum. 

Kamal Nath has authored books like ‘Environmental Concerns of India,’ and ‘India’s Century.’
