Jeetendra is a popular Indian actor. He was born on 7 April 1942 in Amritsar, Punjab. His sun sign is Aries. He did his schooling from St Sebastian Goan High School, Mumbai. He attended Siddharth University and KC University, Churchgate, Mumbai.

Jeetendra’s parents ran a jewellery business. During one of the deliveries of a business assignment to the film director V Shantaram, Jeetendra accompanied his parents. The director was impressed by Jeetendra’s pleasant appearance and decided to offer him a role in his film. 

Jeetendra’s Hindi film debut

He made his acting debut with the 1964 film ‘Geet Gaya Pathhron Ne.’ 

V Shantaram gave him the screen name ‘Jeetendra.’

In the year 1967, he gained recognition from the film ‘Farz.’ The song ‘Mast Baharon Ka Main Aashiq’ earned him fame and the nickname ‘Jumping Jack.’

Jeetendra and Rajesh Khanna were close friends. The two worked together in the 1984 film ‘Maqsad.’ The female leads of the film were Jaya Prada and Sridevi. 

Jeetendra’s marriage

Jeetendra and the film actress Hema Malini dated each other for a brief period. 

He married actress Shobha Kapoor on 18 October 1974. 

The couple’s first daughter, Ekta Kapoor was born on 7 June 1975. She is a popular television and film producer.  

Jeetendra’s son, Tusshar Kapoor was born on 20 November 1976. He is a renowned actor in the Hindi film industry.

Jeetendra served as the judge of the dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja Season 2.’

In the year 2014, he was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
