Harish Rawat is an Indian politician. He was born on 27 April 1948 in Almora, Uttarakhand. His zodiac sign is Taurus. His father’s name was Rajendra Singh Rawat, and his mother’s name was Arti Rawat. 

He is married to Renuka Rawat. They are parents to three kids, Anupama Rawat, Anand Rawat, and Arti Rawat.

Harish Rawat was born and brought up in Mohanari village, Almora, Uttarakhand. He is a senior leader of the Indian National Congress party. 

After completing his schooling from government schools, he pursued a graduate degree from Lucknow University. 

His wife Renuka Rawat is also a member of the Congress Party. 

In the year 1973, he was elected as the chief of the Congress district unit, he was the youngest youth leader of the Congress party.

In 1980, he won against the BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi from Almora parliamentary constituency. 

Since 1980, he has been the head of Congress Seva Dal.

Harish Rawat was elected as the President of Uttarakhand Congress Committee in 2000. 

From 2009 to 2012, he held the charge of Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of Labor and Employment.

Harish Rawat served as the Union Minister of Water Resources in the government of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from 2012 to 2014.

Harish Rawat as Chief Minister

Harish Rawat was elected as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand in February 2014. 

Internal conflicts arose in the Congress party and several leaders opposed Harish Rawat in the year 2016. The Central Government decided to impose President's rule in the state and on 27 March 2016, President Pranab Mukherjee signed the order. He was later reinstated as Chief Minister on 11 May 2016 after winning the vote of confidence. 

He served as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand from 2014 to 2017.
