Bhajan Lal Sharma is an Indian politician. He was born on 15 December 1967 in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. His sun sign is Sagittarius. He completed his schooling from Education Government Higher Secondary School, Rajasthan. He earned a bachelor’s degree from SS Jani Subodh College, Jaipur, and an MA degree in Political Science from Rajasthan University. 

His father’s name is Kishan Swaroop Sharma, and his mother’s name is Gomti Sharma. 

He is married to Geeta Sharma. They are parents to two sons, Abhishek Sharma and Kunal Sharma.

Bhajan Lal Sharma joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) during his school years. He was also a part of the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He also served as the district co-convenor and co-district head of ABVP in Bharatpur. 

At the age of 27, Bhajan Lal Sharma joined the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and became the sarpanch of his village. He served as the head of the village for two consecutive terms.

He served as BJYM Bharatpur District President three times in the 1990s along with BJYM National President JP Nadda.

Bhajan Lal Sharma’s political journey

After gaining significant experience in politics, Bhajan Lal Sharma was appointed as the Bharatpur District Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In the year 2003, he contested in the Rajasthan assembly elections representing Nadbai assembly constituency of Bharatpur.

He was later elected president of Bharatpur district unit of BJP and then he became the state’s vice president of the party. He was then promoted to the post of State Party General Secretary in charge of the headquarters.

In the year 2023, Bhajan Lal served as the General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, Rajasthan for the fourth consecutive time. 

Bhajan Lal Sharma as Rajasthan’s Chief Minister

In 2023 Rajasthan assembly elections, he won from the Sanganer constituency of Jaipur with a significant margin of votes. 

On 15 December 2023, Bhajan Lal Sharma was sworn in as the 14th Chief Minister of Rajasthan. 

Bhajan Lal Sharma has been awarded with the Mahatma Gandhi Award by NRI Organization, Chicago, and ISKCON International Foundation.
