Bajrang Punia is an Indian freestyle wrestler. He was born on 26 February 1994 in Jhajjar, Haryana. His sun sign is Pisces. His father’s name is Balvan Singh Punia, and his mother’s name is Om Pyari Punia. 

He is married to Sangeeta Phogat. He is the son-in-law of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat.

Interesting facts about Bajrang Punia

At the young age of 7, Bajrang Punia started receiving his wrestling training. His father encouraged him to participate in wrestling and kabaddi competitions. 

In the year 2008, he joined the Chhatarsal Stadium where he received training under the coach Ramphal Mann.

In 2013, Bajrang made his international debut in the Asian Wrestling Championships and won a bronze medal for his country.

His personal coach is the famous Indian wrestler, Yogeshwar Dutt. 

Bajrang Punia’s success

He is the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the Asian Games in the year 2017. 

Bajrang Punia tied the knot with wrestler Sangeeta Phogat on 25 November 2020. 

After winning a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, he was awarded a sum of Rs 30 lakh by the Government of India, Rs 2.5 crore by the Government of Haryana, and Rs 25 lakh by BCCI.
