During his childhood, Ashish Nehra used to practice playing cricket at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. 

In the year 2003, he was invited by Virat Kohli’s coach Raj Kumar Sharma to the cricket academy to present the award to Virat Kohli. The latter was the leading run-scorer for Delhi’s team in 2002-02 Polly Umrigar Trophy tournament.
