The women’s wing of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh has been busy making bhagwa (saffron) masks in their homes. The state party unit says it will not rest until everyone has a mask to protect themselves from coronavirus
Lucknow: Inspired by PM Narendra Modi’s appeal to the nation amid the lockdown, BJP UP women’s wing prepared bhagwa (saffron) masks to distribute among the public. BJP claimed that more than 10 lakh masks have already been distributed by women workers and distribution will continue until everyone has a mask to fight coronavirus during the pandemic in the state.
The party said over 35 lakh masks have already been distributed without any cost in the state so far. The party has not set any target for mask distribution, but the distribution campaign will continue till everyone has a mask.
From the state to the booth level, women workers are preparing masks in their homes and the party state unit has been distributing them in the region.
BJP state general secretary Vijay Bahadur Pathak said we have not set any certain target, but we are trying to get everyone masks. PM Modi has appealed to the public to protect themselves by using masks, in his address. "Chief minister Yogi Adityanath already announced that it is mandatory to wear masks in the state and the party has instructed its workers not to come out without wrapping masks or gamchas around the mouth. We also set out on an awareness campaign in this regard," Pathak said.
