India Employment Report 2024 published by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the Institute of Human Development (IHD) revealed that in 2022, 83% of Indian youth were unemployed. The unemployment rate saw a rise between 2000 and 2019; however, employment among youth declined globally during the Covid years. 

India's labour force of more than 507 million people continues to face challenges in 2020 due to the pandemic, globalisation, large-scale unemployment, and crumbling infrastructure. The government must be proactive to provide employment opportunities for a strengthened workforce and support the nation’s economic growth.

One of the reports of the International Labour Organization (ILO) states that India has the largest youth population in the world with nearly 66% of the total population below the age of 35.

Nearly 25 million jobs could be lost worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic, but an internationally coordinated policy response can help lower the impact on global unemployment, according to a UN agency.

 While the world progresses to make our economies driven by artificial intelligence, the children of India still fail to receive primary education.
 

It was over five quarters ago when the slowdown gradually began creeping into our economy. Schemes such as Make in India should be encouraged as they will help India reduce unemployment and also increase our exports. Our GDP is $ 2.6 trillion, so reaching a $ 5 trillion economy isn’t unrealistic.
 

Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Nitin Gadkari, on 17^th December launched the sale of Khadi Rumal, in the presence of VK Saxena, Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission(KVIC). A few years back, struggling to sustain their existence, families of militancy affected areas of Kashmir shifted to Nagrota, a small town near Jammu. In 2016, KVIC started a napkin stitching center in Nagrota, for the women impacted by the lack of livelihood opportunities and unemployment, to help them become self-dependent and sustain their families.

Earlier, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had promised that she would provide education and employment for youths in the state. However, the protesters claimed that the CM failed to fulfil the promises.

The Dehradun constituency entered the Lok Sabha elections 2019 on the first phase of the seven-phase elections. Jammu and Baramulla Lok Sabha constituencies enter polls in the first phase of the Lok Sabha election amid calls of boycott issued by separatists as well as militant groups in the Valley. Voters queue up to cast their vote in North Kashmir's Baramulla and Uri district. Voters talk about the uncertain state of Kashmir and how peace is what they want. Apart from that unemployment and infrastructural issues are also a major concern for the locals. In these two constituencies, more than 3.3 million people are to choose their parliamentary representatives from among 33 candidates. In Jammu, where 24 candidates are in the fray, the fight is mainly between the BJP’s Jugal Kishore and the Congress’ Raman Bhalla as the regional parties, National Conference (NCP) and People's Democratic Party (PDP), decided not to field their candidates to consolidate the “secular vote” against BJP. 

Congress president Rahul Gandhi was in Haveri, Karnataka, to address an election gathering. While the attendance was bad, Rahul touched upon the same old issues of no jobs, etc. BJP, on its part, dismissed the speech as ‘garland of lies’.
