Public Sector Banks  

Reports from the survey by FICCI and IBA indicate that the public sector banks are overseeing NPAs better than their rivals, private sector banks. In the last six months, all the public sector banks noted a drop in the NPAs, whereas only 67% of private banks cited a decline, while 10% reported a surge. 

On October 15 while Delivering a lecture at the prestigious Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the Indian public sector banks had the "worst phase" under the combination of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.
