Russian woman allegedly drugged and raped by six men in Tamil Nadu

Six men on July 12 allegedly gang-raped a 21-year-old woman of a Russian nationality. The woman was living in Tiruvannamalai, Chengam road guesthouse, which is about 194 km away from Chennai. This incident came to light on Monday (16 July), after one of the accused took her to the hospital and informed the doctor that he found the woman unconscious at her place. The alerted doctor informed the Tiruvannamalai town police station, after which she was then shifted to the government medical college for further examination.

The local law enforcement agencies decided to consult a Russian translator to help register a complaint for the woman after a medical examination confirmed that it was rape. A statement which was released by Tiruvannamalai police has asserted that there were also bite marks on the victim's face and scratch marks on her body.

A report by Times of India stated that the men might have drugged the woman before the assault. Six people have been arrested in relation to this case currently and are being interrogated by the police. Based on her statement, police have registered a case under section 376 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused.

This 21-year-old victim was visiting the country to gather more knowledge about spirituality and meditation, when this horrific incident took place.
