The economic slowdown has caused a great dent in the country with the GDP going as low as 6.8%. According to Central Statistics Office, India's GDP slowed to a five-quarter low of 6.6% in October-December 2018.

131 chartered accountants from across the country, on Monday, debunked allegations made by a group of 108 economists and social scientists who say that the economic statistics of the country are in disarray. Allegations of political interference in data publication has been countered.
