The voters in Theni's Bodi in Tamil Nadu refused to cast their votes unless they were promised that roads will be laid. The hilly region that lacked roads saw no votes until 1 pm in the Lok Sabha election

 Madhu's family has decided to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha election due to lack of facilities in the village in Palakkad, Kerala. The villagers say there is no proper road, drinking water facility nor a bridge to reach their house.

An educational event for the minorities called 'Talim-e-Tarbiyat' organised in association with esteemed organisations like the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Union bank had invited Shazia as a guest of honour for the panel discussion.   

Maoists have put up posters and banners in Wayanad asking citizens to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha election and join their group. These posters have become a threat to Wayanad candidates.

Villagers in Bastar, Chattisgarh have now cast their vote in the first phase of general elections amid high security. Despite threats from naxals to boycott the election, villagers walked 10km to the polling stations.

 

Jammu and Baramulla Lok Sabha constituencies enter polls in the first phase of the Lok Sabha election amid calls of boycott issued by separatists as well as militant groups in the Valley. Voters queue up to cast their vote in North Kashmir's Baramulla and Uri district. Voters talk about the uncertain state of Kashmir and how peace is what they want. Apart from that unemployment and infrastructural issues are also a major concern for the locals. In these two constituencies, more than 3.3 million people are to choose their parliamentary representatives from among 33 candidates. In Jammu, where 24 candidates are in the fray, the fight is mainly between the BJP’s Jugal Kishore and the Congress’ Raman Bhalla as the regional parties, National Conference (NCP) and People's Democratic Party (PDP), decided not to field their candidates to consolidate the “secular vote” against BJP. 

First phase of voting has begun in naxal hit Chhattisgarh today and people have been thronging the polling stations in large numbers. Naxals' appeal to boycott the elections has been blatantly ignored by the residents of Konta.

BJP MLA from Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, Bheema Mandavi was killed in a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by naxals on Tuesday. According to the police, the BJP leader was returning from a public meeting at Bacheli and was heading towards Nakulnar when the rebels ambushed his convoy.

Terror heads of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind have released audio clips before the Lok Sabha election, appealing, as always, to Kashmiris that they should not vote. Hizbul commander Riyaz Naikoo and Ansar’s Zakir Musa have threatened to kill those who exercise their franchise.

 Wayanad has become a high-profile constituency after Rahul Gandhi declared his candidature. Security has been tightened in the hilly district.

The loss-incurring corporation had recently terminated 3,872 empanelled (temporary) bus conductors following a directive from the high court on December 17. Now these KSRTC empanelled employees and their families have decided to boycott the Lok Sabha election
 

Protestes have taken place across Tamil Nadu in the Pollachi sexual assault case. Lawyers in Ramanathapuram have taken to streets, boycotting courts demanding speedy trail and conviction of all accused.

According to reports, there are around 15,000 transgender people living in Assam and the names of 503 were included in the draft electoral rolls in the state. The revised policy is intended for the welfare of the transgender community in the state

Residents of Villiseri village in Kovilpatti staged a protest demanding basic facilities in their village. They alleged that they have no drinking water facility for the last 10 years and their complaints have fallen on deaf ears.
