The Central and State Governments have implemented various schemes that aim at empowering the girl child. These schemes are designed to ensure financial security and provide better opportunities to the daughters. Families can feel financially secure as these schemes can help you manage the expenses related the girl child’s education and marriage. 

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

You can open an account under this scheme from the birth of your daughter until she reaches 10 years of age. Parents or guardians can contribute Rs 250 to Rs 1.5 lakh annually to this account. The scheme offers an interest rate of 7.6 percent on the deposited amount. The investment period spans 15 years, followed by a lock-in period of 16 years during which no amount can be deposited from the account holder’s end. When the daughter reaches the age of 18, she can withdraw 50 percent of the maturity amount. And at 21, the remaining sum can be withdrawn.

Beti Samriddhi Yojana

This is a government scheme that offers financial benefits to daughters every year. Rs 500 is provided upon the birth of a daughter. Subsequently, Rs 300 is allocated for classes 1 to 3, Rs 500 for class 4, and Rs 600 for class 5. In classes 6 and 7, Rs 700 is provided, followed by Rs 800 in class 8, and Rs 1000 in classes 9 and 10. The entire amount can be withdrawn when the daughter reaches 18 years of age.

Ladli Lakshmi Yojana

The Madhya Pradesh government launched the Ladli Lakhsmi Yojana in 2007. Under this scheme, daughters receive Rs 2000 in class 6, Rs 4000 in class 9, and a scholarship of Rs 6000 in class 12. An amount of Rs 1 lakh is granted when the daughter turns 21.  

Udaan Yojana

This CBSE scheme was introduced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. It offers daughters the opportunity for both offline and online education. Additionally, a tablet is provided to facilitate studies. This scheme is exclusively for girls enrolled in class 11 with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) stream from any recognized board. 

Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree

Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree is a scheme under the Maharashtra government. In this scheme, a joint account is opened for the daughter and her mother. The daughter receives accident insurance coverage of Rs 1 lakh along with an overdraft facility of Rs 5,000.
