1. Heat a pan and add cumin seeds. Roast them until they get brown. 
2. Add chopped onions and sauté on low heat. 
3. When the onions start to dry out, immediately add some water and continue stirring. 
4. Add the spices, salt, turmeric, chilli powder, and ginger.
5. Finally, add the tomato paste and cook until the mixture thickens. Add the vegetables of your choice. Complete cooking the dish in a normal way.
