Mrinal Kutteri resides in Hyderabad. There are no doctors in his family. His parents are originally from Kerala. Mrinal lives with his parents, younger brother, and grandparents. While there was an emphasis on education in his home, there was no family tradition of medicine or engineering.

Developed an Interest in Biology in 8th-9th Grade, Started NEET Preparation in 11th

Mrinal started taking an interest in Biology and Chemistry from 8th-9th grade. He began preparing for NEET from 11th grade. In an interview, he mentioned wanting to become an army doctor to experience both adventure and service. However, witnessing doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic shifted his focus entirely towards the medical field.

Found Time During Lockdown, Created His Own Study Method

Initially, Mrinal enjoyed the shift to online learning during the COVID lockdown. He had time for his hobbies, but gradually realized his studies were being affected. He then set a routine, but instead of a strict timetable, he chose to study flexibly. In an interview, he said, "I set a daily goal and decided how to achieve it myself. Sometimes I couldn't complete it, but I didn't get discouraged."

99.9 Percentile in JEE Main Without Studying 10-12 Hours

While most toppers study day and night, Mrinal's strategy was different. He studied for about 4 hours daily, and up to 5 hours on good days. Never more than that. He explained that he prepared for JEE Main and KVPY with the same general preparation as for NEET. Yet, he scored a 99.9 percentile in JEE Main.

Created History in NEET UG, Achieved 720/720 Marks

Mrinal Kutteri secured All India Rank 1 in NEET 2021 by scoring 720 out of 720. Very few students achieve this feat. His achievement proved that with focus, smart strategy, and self-belief, one can top without rote learning.
