Lucknow: When Khushi Pandey embarked on her social service journey, she faced scepticism from people who questioned her choice of work. However, she remained committed to her goal and continued on her journey. Her mission ‘Project Ujala’ installs red lights on bicycles in an effort to ensure the safety of cyclists during nighttime travel. Additionally, another project named ‘Jeevika Sathi’ supports acid attack survivors by teaching them skills like sewing and embroidery.

Khushi Pandey has been actively engaged in social work since 2016. Initially, she worked with an NGO and gained significant experience. After a while, she founded her own NGO named ‘Sapno Ki Udaan’ dedicated to the upliftment of marginalized communities.

Another initiative called ‘Project Daag’ focuses on menstrual awareness, aiming to empower women by educating them about menstrual hygiene. ‘Project Annapurna’ provides free meals to 500 people every Wednesday outside hospitals. ‘Project Swachh’ maintains cleanliness of government parks. And lastly, ‘Sapno Ki Pathshala’ provides educational opportunities to underprivileged children.

Empowering people

Khushi Pandey also facilitates the distribution of ration supplies. During her journey as a social worker, she realized that focusing on long-term solutions will empower the poor people in the long run. Consequently, she decided to provide women with skills and opportunities for self-reliance. She wanted to inspire women to earn a livelihood on their own.

Jeevika Sathi

The project Jeevika Sathi will provide training in Chikankari, tailoring, and embroidery. The initiative is dedicated to empowering acid attack survivors. Each survivor will have the opportunity to open their own shop and market their products. Moreover, the NGO will also extend help to other needy women. Khushi shares that 30 women will be selected for the training programmes to make them self-reliant. Sapno Ki Udaan has received immense support from the Suez Foundation under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
