New Delhi: Rishabh Jalan runs a startup that specializes in providing cremation and funeral services. He shares that when a family experiences the loss of their loved ones, performing the last rites overwhelms them. Moreover, many people who live in cities away from their families are unaware about the funeral customs and rituals. Rishabh provides professional assistance to families during this difficult time. The startup ‘Last Journey’ has already performed 25,000 to 30,000 rituals and ceremonies for the deceased.

Where did the idea come from?

Rishabh Jalan is a resident of Delhi. He explains that the idea for Last Journey stemmed from his personal experience. When his 80-year-old relative passed away, someone who had helped his family for many years, he faced challenges in performing his last rites. He highlights the disconnect between the care given to a person during their lifetime and the hesitation in performing their last rites properly. Rishabh aims to change this mindset and foster a more supportive approach for funeral rites.

Services offered

Last Journey offers a comprehensive range of services for the deceased. From puja arrangements to ambulance services to crematorium, everything is available under the services offered by the startup. In cases where relatives live far away, the company ensures the preservation of the body under the supervision of a certified doctor, to allow distant family members to have a final viewing. So far, Rishabh’s company has provided services in Mumbai, Chennai, Indore, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

The dedication

The startup landscape in India is largely profit-driven. On the other hand, Rishabh Jalan’s Last Journey has carved out its unique identity by offering cremation and funeral services. The company also offered these services during the pandemic.
