Dehradun: Madhav Bhardwaj had a high paying job at one of the top companies of the world. From anyone else’s perspective, he was already living his best life. But there are people in this world, who aspire to soar higher and higher. People like Madhav recognize their immense potential and capabilities and aspire to explore new horizons. He chose to resign from his Microsoft job and dedicated himself to UPSC exam. All his dreams came true, when he finally became an IAS officer in his second attempt. 

Who is Madhav Bhardwaj?

Madhav is a resident of Camel Back Road, Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. His father, Lal Bahadur Shastri retired from the post of Research Associate from the National Academy of Administration. Madhav received his primary education from Model School, Mussoorie. He completed the rest of his schooling from Wineburg Modern School. 

He appeared for the NIT exams after completing his class 12th and pursued a B Tech degree in Computer Science from Allahabad. He then earned an MBA degree from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. To become more skilled in his subjects, he also pursued some relevant courses in France. In the year 2020, he successfully got a job at Microsoft and embarked on his professional journey. 

Chasing a dream

Since childhood, Madhav was exceptionally bright in his studies and always made his parents feel proud. During the pandemic, when Madhav was working from home, he started preparing for the UPSC exams. He used to devote eight hours to his day job, and then he would spend 5 to 6 hours for his UPSC preparation. 

Madhav appeared for the exams but could not make it to the final round in his first attempt. He kept his hopes high and remained consistent with his studies. In the year 2022, Madhav appeared for the exams the second time, and secured 536th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
