Meerut: Eiha Dixit, a young girl of 10, realizes her responsibility as a citizen that most adults don’t. At this tender age, she has made friends with her environment and has achieved the feat of planting 20 thousand saplings. Let’s delve into this inspiring journey of this little kid.

Who is Eiha Dixit?

Eiha Dixit is a resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. She is student at St Francis World School, Lohia Nagar. Her father, Kuldeep Sharma, a former journalist, runs his own coaching centre. Eiha’s mother, Anjali Chaudhary works as a teacher.

Eiha’s plantation journey

Eiha’s journey as a green crusader began when she was watching a cartoon on television. The cartoon displayed the transformational journey of a seed into a massive tree. The engrossing visuals left a meaningful impact on Eiha, which prompted her to start taking plantation seriously. When she expressed her desire to her parents, they could not restrain themselves from feeling proud of their kid.

The journey

The first plant Eiha planted was a lemon plant. A journey she embarked on by planting a tiny plant in a park, soon turned into a responsible initiative. She began planting saplings in her school and surrounding areas. She inspired her friends to join her and gradually her initiative received support from many individuals.

A plantation club

As more and more people joined Eiha’s plantation campaign, her mother established the Green Eiha Smile Club. Today, many people voluntarily participate in tree planting within this group, reflecting a collective commitment to the cause.

Birthday celebrations

Eiha celebrates her birthdays by planting saplings. It is amazing to see that a young child of ten has enough knowledge about the protection of environment. She planted 1008 saplings on her 5th birthday, and 2500 saplings on her 6th birthday. With this single endeavour, she has successfully planted 20 thousand in the public places of Meerut. Her efforts have been recognized with awards like International Young Eco Award, and the prestigious Bal Shakti Puraskar.

Appreciation from PM

Eiha Dixit received praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also offered her guidance on tree planting methods. He advised her to bury a pot in the ground at the planting site to maintain water balance and support plant growth. President of India Droupadi Murmu invited Eiha to Rashtrapati Bhawan on Children’s Day in recognition of her efforts.
