Deoghar: Hare Ram Pandey, a resident of Deoghar, Jharkhand, has gained significant recognition since his appearance on the reality TV show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ in 2023. As the founder of Narayan Seva Ashram Trust, he struggled to provide for the 35 orphan girls. Today, people come forward to support his noble cause for improving the future prospects of his organization. For the last 23 years, he has been the guardian of 35 orphaned children.

When one works for a noble cause

Hare Ram Pandey recalls an incident from 15 years ago when he lived with his family and 35 children in a humble house. His neighbours often cast objectionable remarks at him for his choice of work. One day, a neighbour commented on their living conditions, questioning the caste of the children they were caring for. These words deeply hurt Hare Ram’s wife Bhavani Devi.

Being honoured

Hare Ram Pandey reassured her by asking her if she felt that their noble work was shameful. To this, Bhavani Devi said that they were doing nothing wrong. She further added that according to religious scriptures, enduring insults while serving God would ultimately lead to greater respect in the future. Hare Ram admits that this proved true 15 years later, when they were invited on KBC.

Support from people

Hare Ram Pandey shares that they had no financial assistance to run their organization. They sustained the expenses by selling their properties several times. However, the financial support of Rs 21 lakh from KBC, and the outpouring assistance from people across India, has helped him in building better housing facilities for the kids. His ultimate goal is to establish a school for the underprivileged children.

Harsh reality of the world

Many families in Hare Ram’s hometown rely on agricultural activities. Due to poverty, parents prioritize sending their sons to schools while the daughters are taught to do household chores. His aim is to build schools for these daughters who are unable to receive education due to their family’s circumstances. These schools will provide academic education along with food and medical facilities. Fortunately, the government has agreed to provide land next to the ashram and some companies have stepped forward to support this endeavour.

Family’s collective effort

For the last 23 years, Hare Ram Pandey has been rescuing newborn girls abandoned in various places like forests, garbage heaps, rivers, gardens, railway tracks, and even the public bathrooms. It’s saddening to learn that newborn children are left to die in such deplorable circumstances. Hare Ram provides for these girls and ensures they receive an education. He is supported by his wife, son, and daughter-in-law. The collective effort highlights their dedication to ensuring a better future for children.
