Megha Bafna, a resident of Pune, Maharashtra, had a fondness for preparing healthy fruits and vegetables salads. Embracing a healthy lifestyle, she incorporated salads into her daily meals, ensuring they were always a part of her lunch. Her passion for salads eventually turned into a business venture. 

Who is Megha Bafna?

Megha Bafna has been working in the real estate industry for almost 20 years. One day she made the decision to venture into the salad business. She is supported by her husband, mother-in-law, and son, who have been pillars of strength throughout her journey. In the year 2017, she initiated her business through a WhatsApp group while simultaneously managing her job. She received her first order from the Facebook group called Pune Ladies. 

Business investments

Megha had a clear vision of keeping her startup costs low from the beginning. With this in mind, she launched her business with an investment of Rs 3500. As orders began pouring in, Megha created a WhatsApp group to organize her orders efficiently. She named the startup ‘Keep Good Shape’ with the tagline ‘Your Health is Our Responsibility,’ reflecting her commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle. 

Success

The workload doubled as Megha’s business expanded. To meet the demand of more orders, she expanded her team and hired 12 delivery boys and 15 women specifically for vegetable cutting. Her business flourished further receiving up to 300 orders per day. 

Managing responsibilities 

Megha has been balancing her business and family responsibilities for the last seven and a half years. She emphasizes the importance of time management. Megha’s day starts early at 4.30 am, as she begins preparations for her business. It was challenging to manage multiple responsibilities when she started out, however, she found ways to manage everything efficiently.

Profits in a month

Megha faced challenges when the use of plastic was banned in Maharashtra. Despite the initial difficulties, she adapted by shifting to organic packaging solutions. Her business now yields a monthly profit of Rs 1.25 lakh, showcasing her resilience and adaptability in overcoming obstacles. 

Prices of salads

Megha initially offered two pricing options for her salads, one at Rs 59 and another at Rs 69. Within a month of the launch, her business was gaining success and she started making profits. She made her own recipe for the salads. She packages 300-gram portions priced at Rs 100-110. Additionally, she also provides a weekly package option priced at Rs 500.
