Lucknow: Satish Vaishya was born with a deformity. After his birth, the doctors had suggested to perform an operation on his legs, but his parents did not consent to it fearing that it would cause more harm to their son. The relatives assured the parents that things would be fine with a little extra effort and care.

Earning a living

Satish was born in the year 1975. He completed his schooling from Barabanki and moved to Lucknow for better prospects. He earned a degree from the National College.
His father had a small shop in their hometown where he sold utensils and household items. Despite his deformity, Satish used to help his father by carrying 40 to 60 litres of oil from Lucknow to Barabanki on his bicycle.

An incident changed his whole life

There had always been a dearth of money in his family. Once when he needed Rs 1200 for some important matter, his father emptied his pockets and handed him all his income of Rs 700. His eyes welled up and he felt bad at his circumstances.

From thereon, he decided that he will not remain dependent on anyone and would find a way to support his family. Satish started teaching school children and earned a small amount of money. On an unfortunate day, his bicycle was stolen and feeling desolated, he returned to his home. Later, he saved up some money and bought a new cycle for himself.

Failed opportunities

Satish wished to become a CA but because of the financial crisis, he could not pursue his desired degrees and diplomas. He had once applied for a government job in bank, but unforeseen circumstances prevented him from appearing for the exam.

Keeping the hope alive

In 1993, Satish joined a finance company. He worked tirelessly to improve the condition of his household. He made many records in the company through his work and made a name for himself.

His co-workers and fellow villagers started sharing stories about his success. In 2009, he participated in a competition organized by the company and won lakhs of rupees as an award.

He felt proud of himself for creating his unique identity and building good relationships with people.

Social service

During the pandemic, when people feared to step out of their homes, Satish Vaishya would ride on his scooter to deliver essential items to people.  He delivered tea, buttermilk and biscuits to the officers deployed on duties at intersections. The police officers thanked him for his service. He is also associated with Patanjali Yoga Peeth, where he teaches yoga poses to people.
