New Delhi: The increasing pollutions levels in India, especially in the Northern states, is a serious matter of concern. When the schools were shut down in Punjab due to excessive pollution, a couple found it distressing and they resolved to address the issue by spreading awareness about environmental degradation and fostering a change for a greener future. They are famously known as ‘Green Couple of Punjab.’

What is Vrikshayurveda forest?

IRS officer Rohit Mehra and his wife Geetanjali Mehra are campaigning for creating forests with the help of Vrikshayurveda technique. According to the couple, they have so far developed forests ranging from half an acre to 12 acres of land. The first step in the technique involves examining the soil to identify any deficiencies.

Additionally, ongoing care is provided to the planted forests, considering factors such as water availability and optimal temperatures. Moreover, the process also involves the harmonization of five elements. Presently, the campaign is focusing on planting more trees in Delhi schools.

Who is Rohit Mehra?

For a better future

Rohit and Geetanjali’s aim is to create a nurturing environment. In the process of creating a forest, Panchvati plants including Peepal, Bel, Banyan, Amla, and Ashoka are planted. It takes approximately 8 to 9 months for the entire forest to develop. The forest also features the cultivation of Ashwagandha, Tulsi, Giloy, and other herbal plants.
