Bihar: Hemant Mishra’s success story is exceptional and that can be understood from the fact that he has topped in UPPSC exams twice. Hailing from Buxar district in Bihar, he has achieved the 9th position in the 2023 Uttar Pradesh Public Service Examination (UPPSC). Previously, he secured the top position in UPPSC 2022 with an 8th rank. He experienced setbacks in the UPSC exams, learned from his failures and developed a strategic approach for other competitive exam preparation. 

An achiever

Hemant Mishra completed his early education from Buxar, Bihar. He pursued his class 12 at DAV Patna. After completing his graduation from Jamia Millia Islamia and he went on to earn his postgraduate degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He secured an impressive fourth rank in the NET exams. Presently, Hemant is pursuing his PhD from Jamia Millia Islamia. In the BPSC exams, he also secured the position of Deputy Election Officer in Bihar. 

Success in UPPSC

In the year 2020, Hemant Mishra began his preparation for the UPSC exams. He appeared for the exams for two consecutive years, but only faced setbacks. He did not lose his hopes and identified his shortcomings. Subsequently, he shifted his focus to the UPPSC exams, achieving success in 2022 and 2023. 

Tips from a topper

Hemant highlights the importance of choosing subjects of one’s personal interest while preparing for the civil services exam. He pursued subjects he was passionate about in competitive exams and achieved success. His academic interests were the motivation to persevere despite failures. 

Hemant Mishra continued his studies even after achieving success in UPPSC 2022. He advocates engaging in activities that bring personal satisfaction. After experiencing failure in UPSC, he pursued PhD to maintain a sense of fulfilment and counter any feelings of despair through academic interest.
