Jaunpur: Many people are still scarred with the haunting memories of the pandemic. Nobody wants to be reminded of the scenes where people succumbed to the virus due to the lack of oxygen. Arun Singh, a resident of Jaunpur, underwent a similar experience. He fought and recovered from Covid-19 and spent an extended period in bed. As his health improved, Arun Singh initiated a campaign that focused on planting oxygen-producing trees.

Initiative of planting trees on special occasions

It is not unknown to anyone that more healthy trees equal to a clean environment. Arun Singh encourages people to plant trees on special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings. These trees stand the test of time and stand as a testament to people’s meaningful efforts on saving the environment. Since the beginning of the initiative, Arun Singh has planted thousands of trees.

He not only plants the trees but makes sure to provide a nurturing environment and conserve them for as long as he can. He spreads awareness among locals to extend their support in the making the surroundings greener.

The challenges

Even the simple act of planting trees comes as a challenge in the cities. When Arun Singh started planting peepal trees, the locals expressed their concern regarding the long roots of the plant species. They were worried that their apartment buildings and houses might be harmed.

Arun Singh emphasized the importance of trees and plants and how they play a crucial role in ensuring pure air. He explained that just as we need food to live a life, the need for a healthy environment with an abundance of trees is equally essential.

Campaigns in primary schools

Arun Singh has extended his tree plantation campaign by planting trees in hundreds of primary schools. He has organized his campaigns in Sultanpur, Jaunpur, Pratapgarh, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya. He does the noble work of distributing peepal and other tree saplings. While doing his work, he often encounters questions about why he undertakes work that is typically associated with the environment department.

Arun Singh responds by highlighting the need to reciprocate the prosperity nature has provided us, viewing tree planting as a valuable gift for future generations.
